MGE Facebook Update and Reminder

Don’t forget about the power of Facebook.  As per our update on May 19th, the MGE marketing department has taken a big step forward toward harnessing and maximizing our social media efforts on Facebook (www.facebook.com/mygymfun).  We have been posting relevant and engaging content/pictures, including specific ones about our class elements and programs as well as articles our families want to read.  We have seen a big jump in the page’s activity and are steadily increasing our “likes,” having recently surpassed 16,000.  Our organic reach has increased, growing from about 200 reaches to over 600 reaches a post.  Our content is increasingly being shared, not only by our gyms but also by moms who are sharing the posts with their friends, thereby increasing and organically growing our visibility. Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)

Effective July 1, 2014, Canada will enact the first phase of its Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). While Canadian gyms will have to change the way they collect and store email addresses, the effect on email marketing should be minimal as long as email lists are regularly maintained and cleaned up. The most important piece of CASL states that customers must OPT IN to receive mailings, instead of OPTING OUT once they receive an initial email. Customers must give you explicit and expressed permission to email them, or you may be subject to a fine. The good news is, as long as they were obtained with permission before, your existing subscribers fall under the “grandfathered” stipulation of CASL, and their permission has been “implied.” Going forward, all new email addresses obtained for marketing purposes must have OPT IN language and permission before you are allowed to send them any form of email. Understanding Your Website’s Class Schedules

Understanding Your Website’s Class Schedules MGM / Extranet Tools With the season’s change and implementation of Client Interface, many questions have surfaced regarding how to make changes to the website’s class schedule.  The information below describes from where the class schedule is pulled and what steps need to be taken so that your schedules are both viewed properly and functional. Understanding your Website’s Class Schedule: If your gym has Client Interface (CI) enabled, your website’s class schedule is pulled from the MGM System. If your gym does not have CI enabled, your website’s schedule is pulled from the extranet. We advise gyms to enable CI and not use the extranet to populate current or future class schedules.  Once CI is enabled, you will have to disable all future schedules (on the extranet). My Gym YouTube Video Contest

My Gym YouTube Video Contest ended yesterday, June 15.  Thank you to all the participating gyms for submitting videos and for promoting them to your customers, family, and friends!  Collectively, there were over 7,000 views! The videos with the most views and which lead the contest going into round two are My Gym Fresh Meadows (1633 views), My Gym Valencia (1165 views), and My Gym Calgary (1128 views). Since there were exactly 10 video submissions, all are entered into Round 2 for final voting and consideration to win the Grand Prize by MGE executives and staff.  All 10 participating gyms will receive a $50 ShopMyGym.com store credit. EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE

It’s very simple: when a family member struggles, we all struggle. Please join My Gym Challenged America in a special crusade to support Cougar Clifford, the 15 year old son of much beloved My Gym Chesterfield staff member Colleen Clifford. While playing in the snow, Cougar heartbreakingly landed on his head and shattered the C5 vertebrae in his neck. He spent over two months in the PICU on a ventilator. Cougar was initially paralyzed from the shoulders down. He has regained movement in his arms, and is starting to use his fingers. (Still no feeling in his legs). His spine does have a pulse, which means that with lots and lots of therapy and time, he may be able to walk again. MGCA is asking for donations and moral support for an amazing and inspiring kid with a great spirit and sense of humor. What’s new on MGM?

You will soon see some new and exciting enhancements that have been made to the system in both function and design. Functionality Users now have the ability to: Enter and search for a second parent on the Family Account screen Charge families or children a standalone Membership Fee If gyms offer a “Family Membership,” each child added will automatically be set as a Member. If gyms charge a “Per-Child Membership,” each child will be listed with either an “M” or an “$.” The “M” will indicate that the child is a Member. The “$” will allow you to click on the symbol to take a membership payment. Membership Fees will now be listed as a “Transaction Type” on the Transactions screen if the payment was a separate transaction. Hyland’s Homeopathic Kids Sampling Program, Spring 2014

The Hyland’s Allergy Samples Program has now concluded.  You may donate or completely discard all of the remaining allergy samples as you wish. In June, the final component of this partnership with Hyland’s will commence and feature free “Teething Tablet” samples for your members.  This program, which will run from June 2 – July 1, will be a much smaller one with just two total boxes delivered to the gyms.
