July Marketing Minute: Why AI Images Hurt Your Marketing

AI has made it easier than ever to create eye-catching graphics in just a few minutes. We completely understand the appeal. New designs feel fresh; they’re fun to experiment with, and when you need something quickly, AI can seem like the perfect solution. But here’s the challenge… Marketing isn’t just about creating something that looks good. It’s about creating something people instantly recognize and trust. Think about the biggest brands…If you see golden arches, you know it’s McDonald’s. Or a red bullseye? Target. Those brands have spent decades creating consistency. Every ad, sign, social post, and commercial reinforces the same visual identity. That’s what builds trust. My Gym is no different. Families recognize our colors, logo, fonts, and overall look. Every time they see those familiar brand elements, it strengthens what psychologists call cognitive fluency – the more often people see the same look and feel, the more they recognize and trust it. What happens when branding isn’t consistent? When every location uses a different AI design style, different colors, or...

Important Notice Regarding Primary Credit Cards

Last month, we began receiving reports of one-time use credit cards overriding the primary payment method on family accounts. We determined that the issue affected all additional credit cards (a different payment method from the primary card on file) used on the website between May 22 and June 22. In many cases, the issue was not discovered until the next recurring payment was processed, and in some instances, it was not identified until the second or third billing cycle. To further complicate matters, MGM displayed an approval code associated with the last four digits of the primary credit card. However, upon review of the Global Payments portal and customer bank statements, it was the additional card that had actually been charged. When the issue was first identified, we deployed a fix, but we were unable to determine the full scope of affected accounts at that time. Through continued investigation, we now believe we have identified the impacted accounts and are actively reviewing each case. We will begin reaching out...

We have another amazing success story to share! Emily Henn joined My Gym more than seven years ago while pursuing her degree at Purdue University. After graduating, she was promoted to Director of our Lafayette, Indiana location. Several years later, she played an instrumental role in launching our Spring Mill location, which, as of today, she is proud to call her own. Congratulations, Emily, on this incredible accomplishment! Luckily, Emily Carter continues to own the Lafayette location and is not going anywhere anytime soon. June Marketing Minute: Devaluing a Premium Brand

The more children we can reach, the better! So, we all want busy classes and high enrollment. When classes are small or enrollment drops, the immediate thought may be to run a flash sale or big special. However, leaning too heavily on deep discounts creates a dangerous cycle and may be altering the perception of your gym. The Psychology Shift: What Happens in the Consumer’s Mind? When a premium brand runs deep discounts too often, consumer perception shifts entirely. The Suspicion of Quality: In marketing, price dictates perceived quality. When services are deeply discounted, parents wonder why. Is the facility neglected? Is this no longer the place to be? The “Cheap” Association: Instead of associating your brand with high-tier child development, consumers begin to view it as a budget or “coupon” gym. The “Wait-and-See” Habit: Parents stop buying at regular price. They know if they wait a few weeks, another “flash sale” will arrive. Devaluing the Program Our program is not a commodity; it is an expertly designed developmental...

Credit Card Merchant Services

The following is an update to the Credit Card Merchant Services notice issued on October 22, 2025. As part of the negotiations to secure the minimum necessary rate increases, an Infrastructure Upgrade Fee was included. This fee was successfully negotiated down from $499 annually to $225 annually. The $225 fee will appear on the October 2026 statement. Some may have noticed a reference to the $499 fee on the May 2026 statement. This was standard language included for the majority of the provider’s customers and does not reflect the negotiated rate agreed...

IMPORTANT: Editing Family Account Removes Primary Card

We have discovered an issue where the primary card on file disappears when anything on the main Family screen is altered. This includes any instance where the pink SAVE button appears and is pressed, even if nothing was actually changed. Our developers have been alerted to this issue to resolve expeditiously. In the meantime, please only use the Notes section for now. We will let you know when it is safe to make changes on the main family screen. Thank you, MGE...

Omnify and KNOW Update

Just wanted to give a quick update on the Omnify process. They continue to work out the kinks and combine other technologies for our eventual all-in-one solution. As stated many times, we aren’t sacrificing quality for time to launch. This will be a big transition, and we need to make sure everything will be seamless. We are hoping to test in a few additional gyms in early summer. Pasadena and Koreatown continue to use the software and are providing invaluable information for betterments. KNOW App: Omnify has recreated all technologies a My Gym would use into the Omnify platform, so the relationship with KNOW will end once Omnify is launched. The only function Omnify will not have is shift planning. Many of you already use ready-made solutions such as Homebase and When I Work. If you use KNOW for shift planning, we recommend transitioning to a new platform sooner rather than later, though you will receive ample notice before the partnership...

Billing Update – Streamlining monthly texting overage fees

Dear Franchisees, We are simplifying our billing process related to your monthly texting overage fees.  Starting this month, we will no longer send individual invoices for these charges. Instead, if your gym exceeded the monthly limit, you will receive an email around the beginning of the month detailing any overage fees. These fees will be automatically included in your Marketing & Services Fund payment on the 25th of that month. Additionally, any unpaid overages billed to date will be added to your upcoming June 25th payment. Let us know if you have any questions. MGE Accounting...

Trial Auto Removals

We have received continued reports of trialists being removed due to inactivity despite being marked present in class. We are treating this issue as our highest priority and appreciate your patience while we work to resolve it as quickly as possible. Temporary Fix: Monitor the homepage reminders for notices of trials that were auto-canceled. Reference the roster to ensure they were present in class. Undo the cancelation in the family account if caught the same day. If the trial is no longer visible on the family account, you may restore it from the class roster. Parents will not receive an email notification about the cancellation; however, they may notice the cancellation note in their family account if it is not reversed promptly. Resolving this issue is our highest priority. We will send another update as soon as a fix has been...

May Marketing Minute: 6 Mistakes in Small Business Marketing

Running a small business comes with a LOT of moving pieces, which means marketing can sometimes feel overwhelming or inconsistent. The good news? Most marketing struggles usually aren’t caused by one big problem – it’s often a few small habits or gaps that quietly weaken results over time. Here are 6 small business marketing mistakes (and how to avoid them): Not Understanding Marketing MomentumWhen enrollments, parties, or camps are going well, marketing often falls lower on the priority list. Sometimes owners rely heavily on word of mouth and assume things will continue growing naturally. Other times, marketing efforts ramp up only once enrollments or bookings start slowing down. The challenge is that marketing momentum takes time to build. Parents need multiple touchpoints before taking action. A parent may see your digital ads, hear about you from a friend, drive past your location, and finally decide to book months later. That’s why consistency matters so much. The strongest businesses continue marketing year-round (even during busy seasons) to keep visibility high...

MGM Release – Sunday, May 24th

Per our update last week, we have scheduled the MGM release for Sunday, May 24th early morning East Coast time. We had previously stated that MGM and the website will go offline briefly like past releases, however that is no longer the case on our new platform. Users active at the time of release may need to refresh or clear cache, but otherwise there will be no service interruption. We will continue to keep you updated as any changes come about. Enhancements and updates scheduled in this release: 🔹PCI ComplianceWe are releasing updated back-end code to comply with PCI standards. There will also be a slight update to the transaction flow. The credit card fields will open in a small dialog box within the booking process. Your transaction will not be disrupted. A secure email link will still be an option for any parent who requests it, though it is entirely optional. In the notice we sent in March, we mentioned that the credit card entry fields would be...

Curriculum Optimization Directives and Webinar Recording Now Available!

Our My Gym curriculum is always evolving with these goals in mind: making it easier to teach, easier to train, and consistently exceptional for every child and family. We’re happy to share that the next phase of curriculum optimization will launch in curriculum the week of 5/18. We encourage you to watch the webinar for a detailed overview of all the changes. As promised, the directives are now available to guide you through the updates. WATCH NOW: https://vimeo.com/1188478371/6534808d9d?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci Why We’re Making These Changes More time for meaningful play: Children will have more time to explore and engage with “ingredients,” rather than rushing from one to the next. Developmentally appropriate expectations: Adjustments have been made to better align with how children naturally learn and participate. Quality over quantity: One well-executed, engaging activity is more impactful than squeezing in multiple rushed ones. Time to connect: Families are craving slower, more intentional experiences and meaningful interactions. We are also optimizing for today’s families and teams. Parents, especially Millennials and Gen Z, are...

New Resource: AP Gymnastics Skill Video Library

We’re thrilled to share a new addition to the AP Gymnastics curriculum: a Video Library of Skills! This library is designed to serve as a visual guide for what each skill should look like, helping create greater clarity and consistency in how skills are taught across the board. A few important notes: Not every skill appears in each month’s curriculum, and not every curriculum skill is included on the skill chart. Many skills are built through a progression of lead-up drills that develop over time. You may see skills introduced before the level they’re formally “assigned” to. This is intentional, giving gymnasts exposure and something to work toward as they continue developing. You can find the Video Library: Linked directly within the curriculum on the Gymnastics page under the “Overall Notes” section In the Curriculum Center here: Curriculum>Video Library>Gymnastics Levels Library We hope this resource supports your team in building confidence, consistency, and retention within your gymnastics...

April Marketing Minute: Lead Speed

When a parent searches for activities for their child, they are often in a “high-intent window.” They may be needing to get out of the house, feeling frustrated with their child’s screen time, or in the process of switching to a new activity from something else. If that “high-intent window” closes, the lead is gone. How important is speed exactly? Here are some stats and information to drive the point home… According to studies by Harvard Business Review and InsideSales.com: You are 100x more likely to connect with a lead if you call or text within 5 minutes versus 30 minutes. You are 21x more likely to qualify a lead (get them to book a trial) if you respond within 5 minutes compared to waiting just 30 minutes. The “One-Handed Shopper”: Modern day moms are often browsing on their phones while doing something else (waiting in the carpool line, sitting at a doctor’s office, etc.). THIS is likely when they submit their lead. If you reply while they are...
