Online Freeze Issue & MGM Release Scheduled

A release is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 18, at 9:00 PM ET. The release will require a server reboot that may cause MGM and the website to go offline for 5-10 minutes. We aim to announce planned downtime with as much notice as possible. Sometimes, however, issues arise between announcement and release that necessitate rescheduling. We will continue to keep you updated as any changes come about. Online Freezes We have received reports that freezes done online by parents are not working as intended. Incorrect dates might be shown in the client interface and on the class roster. The fix will be released with this MGM update. In the meantime, we recommend either 1) temporarily disabling online freezes or 2) catching freezes as they come in, undoing them, and then redoing them in MGM. We apologize for the inconvenience.  Enhancements and updates scheduled in this release: 🔷 New Manually Extend Trials in MGM Manually extend trial periods in MGM to give customers extra weeks by clicking the green icon...

Climber Safety

It has come to our attention that some climbers have become unsteady or wobbly. Tightening the climber’s bolts may help, but we understand that, in some cases, this fix is only temporary. We are working on a solution to remedy this issue. In the meantime, if you feel your climber is too unsteady or wobbly to safely keep on the floor, please discontinue its use and remove it from the floor immediately. Disassembling the 4 panels will likely be necessary for storage reasons. To help prevent this from happening or worsening, please use furniture sliders when moving the climber during setups. Please be on the lookout for a future update regarding directives to remedy this issue. If you have questions, please email Tom at...

Important Premium Operations Model Update

It’s been over a year since the Premium Operations Model was released.  To date, 153 US and Canadian gyms (out of 168 total) made the switch to the model.  A few of the comments we hear from franchisees: My enrollment is still growing, but revenue is back to “normal.” I don’t need to be in the “300 or 400-kid club” anymore… I’m above pre-pandemic revenue with less stress!  The POM model saved my gym! Raising prices 30-50% was only one piece of the POM puzzle.  Many locations have remodeled their gyms and updated equipment.  These updates will continue to bring a positive return on the investment and boost the brand for years to come.  Trials with auto-enrollment have also performed extremely well.  A 35-45% “guest to enrolled” conversion was the norm pre-pandemic.  With the new system, a 50-60% “trial to enrolled member” is the baseline.  Of course, without all of the sales conversations, sales training, etc.  Many locations are bringing in 30-50+ leads a month with the Facebook Ads...

Zipwhip Account Freeze Message

You have probably seen this scary looking message at the top of Zipwhip: This means just as the message states: April 30, 2022 is the last day that MGE can make any changes to our corporate account. This does not affect gyms. Zipwhip’s official shutdown date is still December 1, 2022, though our transition plan will have us on a new platform well before that. Another update will be sent when we are ready to roll the new platform out to the first group. Please feel free to contact Mae Perez at mperez@mygym.com with any...

MGM Release Delayed

Sometimes, however, issues arise between announcement and release that necessitate rescheduling. We will send another notice when a date has been scheduled. We know that this is a lot of information to absorb and it can be confusing to know who or what is affected, so we thank you for your patience during this time. My Gym App Update

While we’re still very excited to release the My Gym App, we have run into a few more hurdles than expected. The main hurdle is obtaining approval from the IOS platform (Apple). This project has required a lot of our time and energy, but it has never taken time away from bug fixes on the MGM platform. Making MGM better and better is and will always remain our top priority. This App will get released; we just don’t want to make and then miss any more timing promises. So, at this point, know that we are working diligently on the App. It will be released and, hopefully, be widely used by our customer base over time. Hope everyone is doing well. We’ll be reporting back sometime in the not-to-distant...

Myths, Misconceptions . . . and Truths!

Was fun seeing everyone on Zoom for the “My Gym Myths, Misconceptions . . . and Truths!” meetings.  We used “Zoom polls” in the meeting, however, upon reviewing the recordings, we learned that Zoom does not include the poll itself in the recording.  So, instead of a recording, we are providing the questions and answers from the meeting.  Should you have any questions, please email support@mygym.com. 1) Any My Gym teacher can work to receive accreditation from MGE.  TRUE 2) In Mighty Mites, when the kids are sitting on a mat at a skill station, the only approved mats to use are a trifold or black line mat.  FALSE 3) Music should not be played during the Ninja Obstacle Courses so the children can focus on obstacles.  FALSE 4) For Skill Stations, who should set up the Lead Teacher’s equipment?LeadAssistantEither one 5) The name “Separation Time” was changed to:Parallel Play TimeIndependent TimeTurtle TimeNone of the above 6) For the Mighty Mites Tumbling Skill, it’s best if the Assistant Teacher...

Trial Extensions – Important Note

It happens often. A trial needs to extend their second week of class, so you push back their first full tuition payment. It can occur for any number of reasons (e.g., the gym was closed for camps; the child was ill; they were unable to attend because {insert various reason}), and we absolutely want to accommodate with our exceptional customer service.  The complication that occurs when extending the trial dates is the extension data is not transferred internally. Thus, the original trial dates are aligned with the Client Interface. This means that, once they reach the final day of the originally–scheduled trial, the online booking options for the unlimited classes (if applicable) and all Practice & Play times will no longer be available through the Client Interface. This is on the list to be implemented as soon as possible.  In the meantime, as a workaround, you can choose either of the following options. Please read carefully: Remove the marked attendance for Week 1 and reschedule the trial to align with the new conversion...

Myths, Misconceptions … and Truths!

Hello!  We’re going to be holding a fun and informative session on “My Gym Myths!”  What is a My Gym myth?  Well, once in a while we hear teachers state that something is “a My Gym rule” when, in fact, it’s not.  This session is focused on all of those little (and big) myths, misconceptions, and truths.  We’re sure you’ll say to yourself either “oh really?” or “what the what?” at least a few times! Who may attend:  Any level My Gymer – Teachers through owners welcome! When?  There are 2 scheduled times in order to allow for the most participation.  These sessions will be identical, so please attend just one.  Feel free to have a different team member attend the other session; that staffer will experience the exact same myths and topics.    Thursday, April 7th at 7.30 AM PDTThursday, April 7th at 4.30 PM PDT Email support@mygym.com with any questions. Thank you to everyone who has expressed interest in participating in the trial/preview period. We are still getting a few things ready on the back end and will reach out to you in the next couple weeks. We have received some questions regarding the timing of the transition, when Zipwhip will be going away for good, and so on. Please be assured that we will handle the process every step of the way. Important notices will be sent out via MGE Updates and direct contact as needed. Notable dates: April 30, 2022: The deadline to add any new lines or make changes to our Zipwhip account. New My Gym locations must have a Zipwhip account set up before this date, though we are aiming to have the new vendor in place by mid-April.December 1, 2022: The official sunset date of Zipwhip. Program Ingredient Title Change

The word “separation” has been in our My Gym vocabularies for many years. “Separation Time” – as an ingredient – is intended to be a happy, positive portion of class, wherein children interact with their peers in a safe, controlled setting, without parents directing their play choices. It is also a time for younger toddlers to begin to become more comfortable briefly separating from their primary caregiver, as is age-appropriate. Unofficially, many parents also appreciate the short-lived “break,” as they don’t have to monitor their little one’s every movement for a few precious minutes! 😉 Younger programs have always had Separation Time built into curriculum and we will continue to include the ingredient. However, the word “separation” itself, has taken on a slightly more negative connotation among our current generation of parents. Indeed, when you reference it in the dictionary, here’s what comes up: Separation  sep·a·ra·tion | (se-pə-ˈrā-shən)  \ (sĕp′ə-rā′shən) noun 1: the act or process of separating; the state of being separated 2a: a point, line, or means of division 2b: the act or process of moving apart or forcing something apart (Insert a mental image...

Department Contacts and a (Partial) Fond Farewell

A Message from Aleah Whaley It is with mixed emotions that I write this letter to inform you that March 31st will be my last day with My Gym. I have made the challenging but exciting choice to go work for my family’s business full time. I have absolutely loved working with all of you for the last six years, and truly see My Gym as my second family. We have built many memories together, which I will view fondly for years to come. The good news! I will maintain a seat on the My Gym Foundation Board of Directors and will eagerly continue to help fundraise for kids in need. On this front, I won’t be a stranger and look forward to interacting with you and seeing what fun campaigns you come up with.  MGE (as always!) has great people taking over, and this will be a seamless transition. When in doubt, we recommend emailing each division directly: General Questions: info@mygym.comSupport Team: support@mygym.comAccounting Team: accounting@mygym.comMerch Division: merch@mygym.comStrategic...

Action Recommended: New Trial Copy on Website

The Classes section of the website has been updated to include customizable text for gyms with trials enabled. When the “Trial Period Offer” splash page or bulletin is activated and linked to your Classes section, customers will now see front-and-center information about trials without having to click into a class and begin the booking process. We recommend reviewing and editing the text as needed. The body text (“Whether you’re looking for…”) can be changed in Admin > Website > Settings > Trial Enrollment Options. Any text entered in this field will replace the default copy. If left blank, the website will display the copy shown in the website image...

Training Seminar/International Conference Update

We have been doing deep discussions and considerations as to our next gathering. Unfortunately, there will be no Regional Training Seminar or International Conference in 2022. As much as we all want to be together, we thought it was best for everyone to focus on rebuilding your team, growing your revenue, and saving the costs of a seminar/conference. We hope to have an in-person event in 2023. We will be planning other virtual events to stay connected. Be sure to join us on our Interactive Training series of Zoom meetings taking place every...

MGM Update – App, Zipwhip, Tech Tip, oh my!

My Gym App The launch date for the My Gym app must be moved once again, and hopefully for the final time, to March 31st. We thank you for your continued patience. Zipwhip Replacement We are excited to announce a preliminary partnership with Twilio to replace Zipwhip as our SMS provider. Twilio is an industry leader in customer engagement with clients like eBay, Airbnb, and Lyft. Twilio acquired Zipwhip in July 2021; and, with the technology and user interface staying mostly the same, we can rest assured that it will be a seamless transition. We are looking for 7-10 gyms to be part of the trial/preview period. If interested, please contact mperez@mygym.com. Did you know that you can customize access to sections of MGM typically locked under the Admin or Owner password? Go to Admin > Gym > Administrator Permissions to view over 30 areas of MGM where access can be modified. We hope you found this helpful! +++ MGM Tips & Tricks is a recurring series designed to...
