Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The following is our up-to-the-minute advice regarding the Coronavirus based on recommendations from the CDC: At this moment, we suggest you operate as you normally would. Again, this is under the advisement of the CDC.If you feel it necessary, you may email, post on social media, or use the following as talking points if a parent asks about our policy/stance:  “With regard to the Coronavirus, My Gym’s first priority is the health and safety of our families. We always follow CDC guidelines for any world health concerns, and we assure you we will access information at the beginning of issues. If there are indications that My Gym could be affected, we will take action immediately. During our 37 years of operating hundreds of gyms, we have dealt with dozens of similar issues. Normal protocol for My Gym is to institute elevated cleaning protocols and a no-tolerance philosophy with people in the gym who show signs of illness. We will cancel classes for even the slightest concern, and our members will...

Music Licensing Update

Hello, franchisees!  It’s that time of year again – time to sign up for our annual music licensing program. What exactly is music licensing? Whenever music is played in a public setting such as your gym, it is subject to licensing fees.  You are not legally allowed to play music in your business unless you have the proper license to do so.  Simply purchasing or streaming the music through iTunes or Spotify, for example, does not give you the right to play it in the gym. MGE reaches out to the major music licensing companies each year to negotiate the best rates for our franchisees.  We set up an annual contract with them that is good from January thru December.  This year we were able to work with two of the major players, BMI and ASCAP, for a total fee of $470 per gym. If you wish to participate in MGE’s 2020 Music Licensing Program, please send an email to accounting@mygym.com NO LATER THAN THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20.  It is...

Space Flight Lawsuit Update

Dear My Gym Family, A little over a year ago, we experienced a catastrophic accident at a My Gym that resulted in the death of a 7-year-old boy named Brady.  This tragic accident was the result of human error, both in setting up and in spotting the Space Flight activity – a set of circumstances and errors that resulted in the worst conceivable outcome.  We continue to grieve, and our thoughts are with the family.  We will be speaking about the actual accident at our My Gym Town Hall on Thursday 12/19.  We invite all My Gym owners and directors to attend. Click here to register. Because we have a responsibility to our My Gym organization, and also to continue to bring our wonderful program to thousands of communities around the world, we are now going to turn to the more practical side of this matter.  We will provide you with as many details as possible and explain how we are moving forward, never forgetting the impact this accident...

Resale of Henderson, NV

It is always very exciting when a new gym opens, or a new owner takes over a gym. It is especially exciting for us as a company when that new owner is someone who started as an employee and was motivated and driven to achieve more. Rayna Lamberti is the latest employee/director to make that jump to ownership. Not only has she dedicated the past 15 years to the families of Toluca Lake; she has also overseen the training of hundreds of owners and employees from around the world. Later this month, Rayna and her husband, Joey, will be relocating their family to Henderson, NV where they will take over as owners. While the move and transition won’t be an easy one for the Lambertis, the same can be said for Amy Eastman, owner of the Toluca Lake location. Amy has shown complete selflessness in supporting her friend’s transition despite having to lose an irreplaceable director. Congratulations to all; MGE is thrilled to welcome Rayna and Joey as our...
