New Option for MGL Cancellations

My Gym LIVE is a hit, but, unfortunately, most My Gyms report receiving more cancellations each day. You are all doing an incredible job navigating all the unknowns that confront us during this time. One thing is clear; we are stronger together. We advise all My Gym franchisees to contact MGE Support before making any adaptations to My Gym LIVE. Things that may seem harmless have proven otherwise, and what you hear works in a Facebook Community/Owner Group in one location may not work for another. One area we need to address is cancellations. Despite the support from many members, cancellations continue to flow in. To help retain some revenue from families who are looking to cancel for financial reasons, we are formally advising that owners consider a “pay what you can” strategy with cancellations. What is “Pay What You Can?” (PWYC) As it sounds, the business allows the clients to essentially “name their price” for the service or product. This is nothing new; this pricing strategy has been...

My Gym LIVE Updates

We are so proud of how fast all My Gyms have responded to this new way of operating.  You launched a new operational model and program in a matter of a few days, and, by most accounts, it has been a HUGE HIT with our esteemed My Gym members.  Kudos to you all for pulling off this incredible feat.  Truly amazing! Many gyms launched My Gym LIVE on Monday, with more gyms launching throughout the week.  The last 5 days have yielded us a lot of feedback and data that is too important to ignore.  So, even though it may be somewhat disruptive, we have made a few adjustments to better meet the needs of our members.  These updates are outlined in this document. My Gym LIVE Curriculum Updates Note:  All changes in this section will be completed by Sunday, March 29 (or sooner).  There is nothing you need to do other than adding Preschool Prep, if you would like to. Little Bundles/Waddlers/Tiny Tykes:  Thank you all for the...

“On-Demand” Content

As a reminder, in addition to holding My Gym LIVE classes, all gyms should be adding 2-4 (or more) videos to your private Facebook groups.  These are not recorded Zoom classes; these are 7-15 minute My Gym class segments that are prerecorded for “on-demand” use by your enrolled members.  This is an important part of moving My Gym online and should not be overlooked. Please follow the “Directives for Creating On-Demand Facebook Content” on the Operations Manual > Programs – Core > My Gym LIVE folder (also attached here). My Gyms need your help! Please send in your “on-demand” content videos (not Zoom classes) for us to share with other My Gyms.  This library of videos will help all My Gyms populate and build up their libraries of videos on their private Facebook groups.  You may upload them via this Dropbox link.  Thank you to everyone who has submitted a video thus far! If you are in need of videos for your private Facebook group, feel free to download...

My Gym LIVE: Curriculum, Equipment, and Prep

A number of you have asked what kind of equipment or prep you need to do leading up to launching My Gym LIVE!  We understand that some of you may not have access to your gym right now, so grabbing any kind of equipment (even small things like puppets and manips) may not be feasible at this time.  The MGE Curriculum Team has accounted for this, so you will see instances in the LIVE curriculum wherein we have programmed in a suitable household substitute. All that said, if you are able to use your gym and/or take equipment home, below is the list of items you should procure for your first two weeks of curriculum.  Week one of curriculum is available now, on the Curriculum Center, or via this link: https://www.mygym.com/curriculum/live-w1/ Week One: Dome ConeRed/Green FrisbeePenguin puppetSmall conesBook of choice Week Two: Racket (manip)Pool NoodleLittle parachuteMymo StretchkinSnappy Turtle, Ladybug, Bumblebee, Firefly Book of choice Though it’s not imperative, if you will be under “shelter in place” orders, it would...

*IMPORTANT PRICING NOTE* on Moving My Gym Online

In the directives for “Moving My Gym Online and My Gym LIVE,” we stated that enrolled members will pay your current tuition rate for all of the content, My Gym LIVE, “Loyalty Package,” etc.  Although this may work for you, we want to be prudent and also be clear that it MAY be best to reduce your tuition rate.  Each owner will have to carefully consider their bond with their clientele, local economic impact from COVID-19, and knowledge of their demographics to make the best decision.  Reducing your rate to 50-75% of your current in-gym tuition may gain you more clients and better word of mouth than charging your full tuition.  Example #1:  Your current in-gym charge is $80.  Using 60%, your My Gym LIVE tuition rate would be $48.Example #2:  Your current in-gym charge is $100.  Using 75%, your My Gym LIVE tuition rate would be $75. Additional MGM Directives If You Are Reducing Your Tuition: Set the reduced price in the class template.  If a new or...

Sample Videos for Online Content (COVID-19)

As you may have seen via previous updates, MGE is recommending that all gyms begin producing online content for our families’ at-home enjoyment.  (If you missed the Directives, they can be found here).  This is recommended regardless of your operational status (open, open/modified, or closed).  The hope is that a steady stream of videos will help in two ways: currently enrolled members may stay enrolled, and you will reach the greater My Gym community at large – reminding everyone that we’re still here, still connected, and still awesome!  After reading through the aforementioned Directives, you should download the sample videos below.  Krissy and Eric: YoungerKrissy and Eric: OlderLaura and Brooklynn: YoungerLaura and Brooklynn: OlderLaura: Gymnastics How to Download Videos to Your Phone (Click to enlarge): How to Download Videos to Your Desktop (Click to enlarge): These sample videos should be used to help you decipher the look and feel of your own My Gym videos; they are not intended to necessarily be used as a substitute for creating your own content....

Options How to Operate Your Gym Going Forward (COVID-19)

Yesterday, we sent you three options for how to operate your gym moving forward.***These options have been updated and can be accessed below.  All options are still currently available for My Gym owners. +++ As the situation regarding COVID-19 continues to unfold, we must prepare to face some choices for our businesses in the days and weeks ahead. MGE has created three options for how your gym could operate going forward.  There are pros and cons to every option, and we ask you to consider each possibility thoughtfully before coming to a decision.  We understand the choices we face are not easy, and, if you need any assistance in coming to a decision, you may contact us directly for advice. It is also important to understand that the government could enact stricter policies in some areas in the days to come, specifically, regarding social distancing and quarantines.  However, at this moment, many My Gyms fall into a category that leaves the decision to remain open or to close in your hands. MGE is...

Guidance Regarding When to Close the Gym Because of COVID-19

Each My Gym owner will be facing incredibly difficult decisions during the next period of time, as we see businesses and school systems temporarily closing around us.  Many of you are probably considering “social distancing” advisements and are wondering where My Gym falls within those guidelines.  We wish we had one protocol for all My Gyms at this time, but each gym is different according to the circumstances around them. While every owner will need to make this extremely hard decision individually, we will be right in this with you, assisting through consultation and guidance.  Please consider the following when deciding to keep your gym open or to temporarily close: Reasons to temporarily close your gym: If the government tells you to shut downIf a staff member in your gym receives a positive diagnosis of COVID-19If a child or parent who has attended class receives a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 Reasons you MAY need to temporarily close your gym: If a staff member, child, or parent in your gym has...

MGE Coronavirus Update #3 (COVID-19)

IMPORTANT:  This email was prepared BEFORE the president made his address last night.  We felt the information may be helpful so we are sending in. Another update will go out shortly with more current information.  For now, all gyms should remain open.  Ordinarily we do follow the school system as it relates to closure, but we are also taking into account what other private schools, daycares, and kid-centric businesses (karate, dance studios, etc.) are doing as well. If everyone shuts down or if someone from the gym comes forward as having tested positive, then that certainly changes the tenor of the conversation. But, as of this minute, the best advice is for all gyms to remain open. Update from 3/11/2020 (Before presidential announcement): Dear franchisees, Here are our latest advisements: If you didn’t already, please send the illness/cleaning policy email we provided from last week to your database.  In EMS, create a new email, and find the template in the General folder. If you already sent it last week,...

Steps to take if Coronavirus is reported in your community or gym (COVID-19)

We want to report that, although a few My Gyms are seriously affected by coronavirus (cancellations and freezes), most My Gyms report either “all is OK here” or “just a handful of conversations/cancellations.”  We are also hearing of a few parties being cancelled.  Because of the extenuating circumstances created by coronavirus, most companies are temporarily adjusting their “no refunds” policies, so please consider the gravity of the situation, take each person case by case, and act accordingly.  We also wanted to be sure you had these directives in the event your community or gym has a case of coronavirus reported.  (See below)  We remain optimistic that the heightened awareness of coronavirus will bring about an end of this crisis.  Please contact us immediately for direction should you need it. Thank you,MGE Guidance for a My Gym with identified cases of COVID-19 in the community or gymMarch 6, 2020 The guidance provided here is based on current knowledge of COVID-19 (coronavirus) as of March 6, 2020. Update re: Launch Timing for Direct-to-Parent Birthday Party Favor Program

We’re excited about the upcoming launch of the Direct-to-Parent Birthday Party Favor Program announced last month (see updates released 2/21 and 2/25). As mentioned before, it’s convenient for gyms, convenient for parents, and provides marketing and profit for franchisees. While some gyms already have party favor programs, most gyms are not pursuing this low hanging fruit. This program is designed to help capture this opportunity for you, and earn you more money. To be clear, when you receive 20% of the gross revenue, you are essentially being given almost half of the net profit. We intentionally decided on this generous revenue split to make it a “no brainer” for gyms to participate in this program.  In fact, even gyms that have been selling some party favors have chosen to join in, feeling they can reach more members and earn more money passively. If you’re concerned about MGE’s contacting your members, don’t be. Our emails are professional and not intrusive; our party favors are high-quality and high value, and your...

Illness Policy – Coronavirus Update (COVID-19)

Typically, cold and flu season lasts from October to May, with February topping out the highest numbers of cases.  In addition to the health issues we usually deal with at this time, we now also have coronavirus (COVID-19) to contend with.  Some of your clients may be panicking, but it’s important that you stay calm and stick to the facts. First, don’t panic!  These outbreaks happen, and this too shall pass.  While we can’t control the outbreak itself, we can control how we react to it. Hold to your positive outlook and lean on the organizations responsible for our health – the CDC and WHO.  Keep in mind that the majority of My Gymers, My Gym members/kids, and your community are healthy and do not have immune issues.  COVID-19 is a bigger health risk for senior citizens, and those with immune deficiency issues.  Please click here for more information on COVID-19. Clean and disinfect.  Even though we encourage the use of natural and nontoxic cleaning products, we also must...
