New Special Order Fleece Pullovers – Back by Popular Demand

During the holidays, we released a special order for super soft, comfortable and stylish fleeces.  Because we offered a large number of colors and styles, they were sold through special order only.  Several gyms have requested more of these fleeces, so we’re running the special order opportunity again. These fleeces come in men’s and ladies’ styles with a 1/4-zip or hood.  Several fun and appealing colors are available.  These pullovers will be embroidered with a white My Gym logo on the left chest, though some of the images are shown with a silkscreened logo. We plan to carry some of the styles and colors as stock items in the future.  However, for now, they’re available only by special order so we can offer you a greater number of style and color options.  Please note the following dates: Order deadline: Friday 1/27, 12:00pm Pacific Time Estimated ship date: Week of 2/13 Estimated delivery date: Week of 2/20 Click here to order now.  They’re in the Adult Apparel...

My Gym Marketing 2017 – SSA PR

This is an exciting time for the MGE Marketing Division and My Gym marketing overall. Per the CEO update of January 11, 2017, the MGE marketing workload now resides within the Operations Division of our company, led by Angie Foote and Edwin Chavez. As a big part of this revamp, MGE will be working with a digital marketing company, Plush Digital, to test and ultimately institute cutting edge digital marketing philosophies and methods that will become the standard methodology in how My Gym markets to clients. As we move toward this goal, we have taken a hard look at our marketing fund budget, costs, and vendors to ensure we are utilizing it to the best of our ability and focusing on the priorities at hand. With that said, we have made the decision to move past offering the PR services of SSA. This is effective immediately. While we have been very happy with SSA and the work they have done for us over the years, the reality is that...

New Royalty Protocol

Dear Franchisees, Happy New Year; wishing everybody a happy and prosperous 2017!  This update is to inform you that, for the first time in our history, we will be modifying the royalty collection protocol.  This has been in the making for many months, working closely with the FAB to get their blessing as well.  We received that blessing along with some good ideas that we have implemented into the new protocol.  This new protocol will commence in March.  There is a lot of work needed on our side to set up the new system, and we thank you in advance for being proactive in doing what you need to do to switch over as well.  We tried very hard to make a simple protocol that works for both sides.  Once the new system is set up, we hope you will find it easier or at least no more difficult than the current protocol.  The new protocol is written below; please read carefully so you fully understand. The only thing...

CEO Happy New Year Update

Emphasis On Marketing and Strategic My Gym Alliances I hope everybody had a fantastic holiday season, and that you are all rejuvenated for a terrific 2017. I am attempting to write the shortest CEO Update in my 25 year career; let’s see if I can do it: As normal, every MGE team member’s December was filled with planning and meetings about the future…then more meetings and more planning :). Participating in really great My Gym brand identity and company mission workshops, we emerged with more clarity than ever about what MGE needs to do to help every single one of our My Gyms achieve maximum viability, as well as strategies to help our franchisees (and every My Gym teacher) become as personally fulfilled as possible. By the way, the happiness of franchisees and their staff members, and their ability to be as impactful as possible continues to be our very top priority. A big change you will notice in 2017 is that the MGE marketing workload now resides within...

Playing DVDs/Videos of Movies and TV Programs in Gyms

It has been brought to our attention by The Motion Picture Licensing Corporation that any My Gym locations currently playing DVDs/Videos of movies or TV programs during PNO events, camps, etc. are in violation of licensing laws. Much like there are fees for playing music in the gym, each My Gym location must pay an annual fee of $250.00 in order to legally show them. What we are promoting in our gyms is a healthy, fun, active environment, and we want to reflect that in our actions. As such, to remain in step with what My Gym is all about, to be in compliance with the law, and to not absorb this annual $250 cost, MGE recommends that gyms stay away from this practice and instead stick with puppets and story times to calm the children down, a programming/teaching choice that aligns with our philosophy as...

We will continue to work hard in the years to come in order to provide the best working enterprise system possible at the lowest price for all franchisees worldwide. Front Lobby Security

It has been brought to our attention that people have been walking into My Gyms and stealing people’s personal belongings left in the lobby.  This has happened in several My Gyms in the Los Angeles area; some gyms have even caught the thefts on security cameras and have placed police reports.  It is unfortunate, as we always want My Gym to be a safe place for all children and their families, and we are saddened that the holidays bring out the worst in some people. While there is no foolproof means to protect against burglaries, the following precautionary measures may lessen the possibility of lobby theft. If you have a storefront with large windows, turn your cubbies around. Then, people who pass by and look in will not see purses there. Recommend to parents that they leave purses and anything else of value locked in the trunks of their cars. Make sure that staff members are constantly aware of what is going on in the lobby and that they...

We have updated the Class Confirmation auto-email template in MGM. The previous template needed a little refinement, so we have made a few changes to the wording. Space Flight Update

It has come to our attention that several gyms have had equipment failures with their Space Flights.  In all cases, the failure has had to do with how the turnbuckle was attached to the low end of the column.  If you have not done so this month, please complete the Equipment and Maintenance Checklist.  Please pay close attention to the Space Flight attachment. If a carabiner like the one pictured below is being used, it needs to be replaced immediately with an anchor shackle.  Anchor shackles are common hardware store items.  We recommend using one that is ½” in diameter. If you are unclear on what to look for or have other questions, please contact Tom Saito at...

Happy Holidays from MGCA

We are overwhelmed by the encouragement and generosity we have experienced from the 100% Program this year. Thanks to your help, we have more than doubled the amount of money raised by the My Gym Community in 2016, and we cannot thank you enough. This money will bring smiles to countless faces in the coming year as we purchase life-changing medical equipment and assistive devices for the brave children battling physical and developmental challenges. Children just like Benjamin: 12-month-old Benjamin has Kyphois, a severe curvature of the spine that can press on the spinal cord and result in paralysis. He currently is in the middle of six months of full-body casting to help correct the spinal deformity, and this casting prohibits Benjamin from doing anything but lying flat on his back. However, thanks to your help, MGCA purchased a custom Spica Chair for Benjamin that allows him to be upright, eat off a tray, play with toys, interact with his world, and continue his neurological development. He can also...

MGCA and #GivingTuesday

As you may know, today is #GivingTuesday, a collaborative day when people come together to celebrate generosity and to give. MGCA is participating in this global day of charity, with a goal to raise $33,000 to purchase life-changing medical equipment and assistive devices for an additional 80 children. We have already raised over $11,000, and constant support is still coming in. Marketing Webinar – New My Gym Marketing Plan

INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW Welcome to the NEW My Gym Marketing Plan! We are turning the corner in how marketing is executed at the franchisee level. We ask all franchisees to join us in embracing this New My Gym Marketing Plan to build and improve your own businesses. Is your goal to build and sustain your business? Do you want systems in place to make marketing easier? Would you like to widen the gap between your income and expenses by having increased sales? Great! Jump on board with our New My Gym Marketing Plan! In past annual marketing plans, much of the focus has been on providing the tools and resources for franchisees to spread the word about events, promotions, and gym news. While all of these items are pertinent to the franchisee and staff at each location, they often have little relevancy to your new/potential customers. The New My Gym Marketing Plan draws a clear distinction between Lead Generation Marketing and Current Customer or In-House Marketing. If your goal is to...

Promote your Gym with the New Mymo Bath Squirt and My Gym “Baby on Board” Sign!

ShopMyGym.com just released two new exciting promotional products. Little squirts will beg for bath time when you give them the Mymo Bath Squirt.  This fun toy is My Gym’s version of a “rubber duckie.”  It looks like Mymo’s head (it even has his famous curl), fills with water, and squirts water when squeezed. Our second new promotional product is the My Gym “Baby on Board” sign.  Your current and prospective members will appreciate this sign that lets other drivers know they have precious cargo on board.  It easily attaches to a car window with the included suction cup and reminds others to drive safely. These cost-effective promotional products will give you ongoing exposure to current and prospective members.  Give them away as promotional products, and parents and kids will remember your gym and Mymo whenever they use them.  Display these in your gym and sell them as low cost retail impulse items.  The Mymo squirt can also be sold as a birthday party add-on favor.  Even if you sell...

Now Kids Can Wear Socks at My Gym!

As you know, since My Gym first opened its doors many years ago, one of the rules has been that kids must go barefoot on the floor.  However, times have changed, grip sock technology has advanced and, after careful consideration, MGE has decided to let kids have the option to wear approved socks on the floor. Why did MGE consider changing the barefoot/sock policy? MGE considered several factors while evaluating this change: Some parents want their kids to wear socks for health, safety, and comfort (including warmth during cold weather). Some gyms want the option to let kids wear socks. Some kids want to wear socks. Socks have effective grips that enable kids to safely and properly participate in My Gym activities. Gyms will earn more profit by selling socks for classes and parties (for use during the party and as favors). When sock sales volume is high enough, MGE can make My Gym branded grip socks, which will be effective marketing and branding tools for gyms. What was...

Grand Openings

This Thanksgiving season we are extremely thankful and excited to announce a number of grand openings across North America.  On November 4th, we added two My Gyms to our growing family.  Alyse and Ed Rudin opened their third location in New Providence, NJ.  At the same time, Itohan Orumwense opened her doors in Ottawa, ON.  Both locations just completed their first week of classes and are happily serving their communities. Weiwei Xiang opened her doors on November 18th in Richmond, BC.  She just completed an extremely busy first weekend and is looking forward to more of the same this weekend. Warm wishes and congratulations can be sent to all at newprovidence@mygym.com, ottawa@mygym.com, and...

We are grateful for My Gym Mechanicsburg!

There are so many reasons to be thankful this season, and this year we have a special one.  We recently ran a contest on our Facebook page asking members to tag their My Gym, and we were overcome with the multitude of loving and positive comments.  ALL My Gyms came out winners, and the beautiful observations have our hearts running over with gratitude. We’re excited to announce our lucky winner; sincere congratulations go to My Gym Mechanicsburg!  So many other gyms had an outpouring of positive messages and comments, and you can read them yourself if you need an extra reason to smile today.  A huge thank you goes to the staff at My Gym Mechanicsburg who will receive a set of new hoodies to keep them warm this winter. We want to thank every single gym and member who entered this contest.  We wish we could celebrate each of you publicly, but the comment thread on our Facebook page has done that for us.  Be sure to go...
